Siren After Midnight

Siren After Midnight

18.5"x24.5" oil on canvas

Every day on my commute, I find myself glancing at the siren mural that adorns the wall of an old building in downtown. Her striking visage captivates me, and as the city falls silent after midnight, a question begins to linger in my mind: what does this siren do once the clock strikes twelve? With no one else around in the ghostly stillness of the night, I can't help but imagine her slipping off her concrete perch, venturing into the sea to indulge in whatever enchantments she weaves. It’s easy to picture her singing her melodious tunes to sailors lost in the darkness, beckoning them closer even as a whisper of danger hangs in the air.

After indulging in these wild flights of fantasy, I can’t shake the feeling that she’s watching me every time I pass by. Her haunting gaze seems to pierce through the glass of my car, leaving me with an odd mixture of inspiration and trepidation. I find myself enchanted yet anxious, and I remind myself to focus on the road ahead.

It’s funny how one mural, with its rich imagery and historical undertones, can transform a mundane commute into a journey of imagination. The siren serves as a prompt, sparking visions of adventure and danger that flit across my mind like fleeting shadows. While my imagination takes me to places unknown, I must remain vigilant, for the real world demands my attention on the road. In the end, it’s this blend of reality and fantasy that invigorates my daily routine, reminding me that there’s magic to be found in the ordinary. I smile to myself, knowing that the siren—dangerous and beautiful—will continue to inspire my thoughts long after I’ve passed by. She’s a constant companion during my drives, always there to remind me to stay grounded while my mind drifts off to sea.

The Courtyard

     The Courtyard

     18.5"x24.5" oil on canvas

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow, I found myself nestled in the secret courtyard, an oasis of tranquility away from the bustling world. The soft rustle of leaves and the gentle chirping of crickets created a serene symphony, wrapping us in an intimate embrace. Each whispered word and soft laughter felt like an echo of our infatuation, drawing us closer together. We shared fleeting glances, our hearts syncing with the rhythm of the evening, where time seemed to stand still. In this hidden gem, every moment became precious, an idyllic backdrop for our connection to deepen, as the day's worries melted away into the night’s gentle embrace. It was a sanctuary, a place where our souls could intertwine, leaving us enchanted by the magic of the moment.

Harbor City

Harbor City

16"x19" oil on canvas

An ordinary day. Let's just think for a moment...warm sunlight and reflection from the beneath my feet. The scent is definitely salty from this soft breeze caressing my cheeks, muscles of my feet were't very corporative being getting sore even a short hike. I just started walking up the hill hoping I can catch the glimpse of forever at the top. Sure I saw forever but muscles was killing me yet I was enjoying all the senses all around me.

By Tomorrow Where Will You Be Flying Flight 912

     16"x19" oil on canvas

Intuition was what I was thinking when I was painting this piece. For  instance, talking about colors, where my choice of colors come from?? Begin with general color scheme but where the exact color, intensity, temperature and value of a color comes from? As I mixing colors I knew exactly what colors to mix to get the exact color that my brain tells me. It's fascinating that idea comes from nowhere like what to do next. By the time this painting was done, I realized all I did was just follow my voice inside. But where or how this voice comes from. I guess that what happens when I follow my intuition. Question still remains how does the intuition knows where to go ad what to do...

Spring

    Spring

    16"x19" oil on canvas

To enjoy the textures and colors, I made all the elements as simple as possible to avoid too much of being descriptive. Main goal was to enjoy just the sensations throughout this painting.
