I'm puzzled as to why I considered capturing the essence of this morning fog when visibility is so low. An unusual thought crossed my mind while I stood enveloped in this damp, misty atmosphere. I couldn't quite place why I felt such excitement about painting something hidden from view, the idea of painting whatever I can't see.. The concept thrills me, and just then, I heard the distant foghorn while simultaneously, the rhythmic waves crashed against the nearby shore, not to mention the soft conversations among a gathering of seals. By absorbing the sounds surrounding me, I could visualize through my mind's eye exactly where I stood; I imagined ships, lifeguard stations, and even volleyball poles on the beach. I find myself thinking I can envision what remains obscured from sight while standing right next to a streetlight, which was the only thing clearly illuminated before me. Caught up in inspiration and fascination, I realize I'll never know when I might step into my next painting.
