Almost thirty some years ago one summer night I was in the back seat of my family's convertible enjoying the summer breeze, we are heading to a diner at the next beach town for dinner. Air was cool and salty I still remember almost magical light hitting on the top of the mountain, felt something like this is what you feel like when you are alive and all my senses were so keen, scent of eucalyptus and sea, wind on my cheek, sound of humming engine,  cool blue moon light, temperature, intermittent sound of conversation. This was one of the night I'll never forget rest of my life, It was just an ordinary evening with my family.

For this painting I try to incorporate as many textures as possible to create sensations. I enjoyed coming up with textures from corner to corner of this painting also I avoided too much of description instead I focused on relating each elements. Hopefully this feels as one painting as a whole instead of bits and pieces. Certain textures are unexpected and by accidentally appeared, may be I should paint instinctively more often. Felt more free and ease, best of all I knew where to go during entire time of the painting.

Happy Holidays everyone-Friends Families and Supporters!!

This is my last upload for this year and hope you’ll enjoy the piece. Translating a landscape into shapes, colors and textures I have my freedom to decide how all the elements would like to be felt since I’m painting from my memory. For me each shapes, colors and textures  like to be laid down with certain brush strokes and I believe each strokes carry its own emotions. When I see my brush strokes out right colors and textures I go through a certain emotional experience getting high all by myself. As long as I feel right then the painting is on the right track. After all, the painting is not a landscape of a scenery anymore it’s more like a landscape of my emotional landscape or mapping. If all the elements play nice together as a whole I think the painting is done. I have enjoyed making a lots of paintings this year and hope to keep making another optical adventures so see you next year!

Blue Warehouse

After 20 some years later I still had this image of the warehouse I stumble upon when I was walking around in the beach town. When I was standing in front of this blue warehouse I felt such a wonderful sensation of bliss. We every once in a while experience this unexplainable  sensation of happiness with no reason, lucky me, was this color of blue against mauve color of evening light or just evening air of the place I don't know but one thing for sure I was standing there enjoying the sensation of satisfaction being alive. To recaptured the moment I went back to the spot but unfortunately the warehouse wasn't there anymore due to new development or something, sad but can't stop the change of time. So I thought may be I can capture the sensation through my painting and painting from my memory and I only remembered only what was important for my painting like blue warehouse which actually had a lots of colors in it, transparent pink in the background and best of all the blue color of the air, soft lights hitting the side walk and oh I put a puppy for the scale. I needed lots of softness and brush strokes to balance out against lots of straight shapes in the picture. Painting from memory helps filter out unnecessary details remembering only essentials.

When I woke up in the morning I still remembered the dream I had. I was flying or more like floating over a river in the evening. The best thing I felt so nice was I was in the middle of bridge lights. It was so fuzzy and warm. Didn't want to wake up.
