Usually I don't remember my dreams but this time when I woke up I still remembered. It was scary but pleasant at the same time. Hope to go back to my dream but as you know it doesn't work. I thought it might be interesting to paint my dream while my memory is still fresh. Painting from memory is always makes me feel at ease it seems work as long as I follow my intuition. This institution of mine is wonderful as even I don't know what to do with my painting at the beginning but, so far, it tells me what to do in the course of painting. Yes, I'm talking to myself but it works!

Walking along the Venice beach it is amazing I come across so many colorful people, tourists from all over the world, lots of street performers and some of them became celebrities, souvenir shops, restaurants and bars, fortune tellers families and many many more.Specially I love watch people goes by imagining, all by my self, where they are from, what's their jobs, why are they here or if they are couples their relationship must be going so well as they appear so giddy. Beautiful people and not so beautiful if I watch them for a while they are all attractive and alive.

Every so often when I drive down PCH I encounter some fascinating cloud formations. Watching the traffic before me with an one eye and I try to peak the cloud with the other, I can't help memorizing the shape, colors, softness, thickness and how big it is compare to the surroundings. I love watching cloud as they tell me where the wind going, how high up they are, what time of the year I mean season, how much they can show me the blueness of the sky and so on but the best of all I won't be able to see the same cloud again rest of my life. There is my favorite Japanese saying " Ichi-go Ichi-e " which means this time only, never again or one chance in a life time so I should cherish the citing every time I spot the one of a very special cloud.

Taking a little walk around my neighborhood, I walked this street so many times before, but that particular day I found myself staring at the other side of the street. I try to figure out why it is so attractive to me, combination of trees, bushes and lots of plants, as a whole it was a some kind of textures that made me feel intriguing.  After I finished this painting I noticed something I didn't expected, I can sense the scent of the typical LA dry air and quality of light that I love. Sometimes I get more than I wished for.

I visit Venice beach from time to time and always come home with impression of turquoise.

Every beach is filled with turquoise almost all beach town along the California coastal line. Reason why I'm so fascinated by this color is may be because since I was born and raised in Japan I don't think I remember this color does exist in life until I came to California. Come to think of it when I took the very first bus ride which interior was turquoise I still remember the ride and was such exciting experience. May be just me that this color gives me such a special sensation it brings me a satisfaction of sight.

This painting I started out to paint a street corner of somewhere I don't know. My goal was to just paint as I go and find out it where my intuition takes me. It was very scary to paint without preplanned directions but surprisingly it was quite pleasant experience, felt more free and comfortable and end result was something I couldn't possibly imagined. I loved this experience from the beginning to the end and hopefully like to do the same for the paintings to come.
