Long Long Long Time Ago

Long Long Long Time Ago

29"x29" oil on canvas

Air travel must have been much much simpler back then compare to this modern days. I can imagine getting on an aircraft was such a big thing. Sight and sound of aircraft was so up close and personal while waiting for climbing up stairways for boarding. Walking the tarmac was almost like walking on a cloud already. Not being a frequent flyer I should be thankful as I can still get excited even way before my flight. Packing, heading to the airport, check-in and even long lines of TSA, I don't mind at all, the longer the line my excitement grows higher.  Then talking about snoop around restaurants and duty free shops, I just mousey on like a cow. That's why it takes such a long time to just get to my gate, and talking about actual flight experience, it's an another long story. I wonder what would be like if I could fly like back then, it must be the a real TRIP!

Santa Monica Airport

Santa Monica Airport

29"x31" oil on canvas

7/30/21

Almost 20 years ago I had this idea but for up until now I could't figure out how to paint it. I was wondering why I started painting this all of a sudden. By finding out what I really interested in painting wasn't airplanes after all, I was fascinated by massive collections of shapes, colors and textures of these aircrafts. Once I understood what I really want to after I start seeing the painting. I had a little confusion at the beginning but once I started moving my brushes this painting showed me the way till the end.

As I was painting this piece, I started thinking what would be like if I break free from whatever I have learned about picture making. It was a bit of scary at the beginning but as I was start enjoying this free reign of mine. By eliminating my fear, I felt rather exhilarating joy till the end. The painting went through a quite change from the beginning but at the end everything worked out just fine.

River Front

 River Front

29"x29" oil on canvas

5/15/21

This painting took me longer than I thought and had a lot of new experience about picture making. By just start painting, most of the time a painting moves along the way I hoped for but sometime I get a curb ball from nowhere every once in a while. Certain shapes, textures and colors demands get into my painting, I know it's an artwork and nothing to do with reality but I still hesitate to commit to through some paints in it.. A lot of things happens along the way yet I started enjoying listing to my own voice. So far I had good lucks by listening and lots of happy results. Can you imagine how fun is that if the paintings comes out different than I started in a good way!

High Tide

 High Tide

29"x30"  oil on canvas

4/9/21

Between brain and heart, making a painting is always a dilemma. Simple decision making of choosing colors I often torn apart between logic and intuition. My little brain tells me one color yet my heart tells me the other to paint. Nowadays I heavily rely on my intuition, I feel more comfortable and freer than ever before. One more interesting that I finding out is painting more with my intuition is so unpredictable as I understand there is no way to see the end result in advance. Most of the time I end up with piece that I haven't thought about. Making a painting that I never seen before is hard yet it is so much exciting as if I'm unfolding a mystery right in front of my eyes.

Shack On The River

 Shack On The River

oil on canvas  30"x29"

I always envy people who enjoy drinking at any occasions, as for me my body can't tolerate any kind of alcohols, sadly it runs in my family. I wish that I can be a little bit tipsy every once in a while so the world might appear a bit differently. Where I came from if you can't drink at any occasions specially afterwork get together you were automatically an outskirt, outsider, alien, murahachibu( in another words something like you don't have any bars on your phone.) and lists goes on. But then again over the years I learned how to enjoy at those parties by drinking just coffee as long as being there with my friends. They all knew that they can count on me even they got smashed, wasted and wrecked. I was always the designated driver, they needed me after all!

Loving Everyday by Painting!

Wondering about all the paintings which I made in the past, some of them are embarrassing to show or every once in a while I feel pretty happy about how they feel. Looking at them some of them made me thinking.... What was I thinking.....!  Good or bad, adventure goes on and looking forward painting more ideas as there's no end to it.
